Changing Position of a Component

Scroll

The position of a component in the model can be changed.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Highlight the component in the Design Tree and call the Place component command from the context menu or the Edit command from the Edit menu.

The Parameter Panel will display the controls for setting the component position in the model. The composition of the controls depends on the selected method of placement – By coordinates or By matings .

2.Select the desired component placement method and set the placement parameters. These actions are performed in the same way as adding a component to a model.

Setting parameters for the By Coordinates method

Specify parameters for the By Matings method

If the component is placed using By Matings, note the following.

The elements of setting the position of a component in this way are available only when the component fixation is off (the Fix toggle must be in the 0 position — off).

If a component was placed in the model using the By Matings method, then upon switching to the By coordinates method, the previously created matings are not deleted but are excluded from the calculation. You can re-enable these matings. In this case, the position of the component will change according to the specified matings.

3.If necessary, specify the following additional parameters.

Enable or disable the component fixation. To do this, set the Fix switch to the desired position, located in the Main section of the Parameter Panel. More details about the special features of fixing components...

Change the values of external variables of the component. To do this, enter the required values in the Variables section. It is present on the Parameter Panel if the component has external variables. More details about the management of external variables...

Enable/disable object accounting in the specification (for all components, except for blank parts). To do this, change the state of the Include into BOM toggle switch in the Additional parameters section. More details on creating a BOM based on data contained in the document...

Change the representation of the subassembly in the assembly BOM: as a single item or as several items corresponding to the constituent parts of the subassembly. To do this, translate the Assembly Unit/Constituent Parts toggle switch to the desired position in the Additional parameters section. The toggle switch is available if the component is a subassembly and is included in the BOM. More details on how subassemblies are represented as constituent parts in the assembly BOM...

Convert the coordinate system of the component from right-side to left-side. To do this, enable the option Invert Z Axis of CS in the section Additional Parameters. More details on the right-side and left-side coordinate systems...

Select method of component positioning on assembly layers. To do this, use the controls of the Displaying group in the Additional parameters section. More information about methods of component placement in the layers...

4.To complete the process of placing the component, click Create Object button in the Parameter Panel header.
