Methods of placement a component on the assembly layers

Scroll

During the process of adding a component, you can choose the method of placement it on layers assemblies. To do this, use the Displaying group of elements in the Advanced parameters section. The following methods are available.

On the specified layer — all objects of the added component and all its constituent components are placed on the same assembly layer. The required layer is selected from the list in the Layer field.

On source layers — objects of the added component and all its subcomponents are located on layers with the same numbers as in the base file(s).
The method may be useful if objects in the component are distributed by layers based on certain attributes, for example, there is a layer Auxiliary objects, on which all objects intended for marking, auxiliary constructions, etc., are placed. By changing the properties of the layers, you can manage objects in the assembly: disable the layer's visibility or its projection in the drawing, etc..
Change of the layer state in components does not affect the layer state in the assembly file, and vice versa – change of the layer state in the assembly does not affect the layer state in the component files.

After a component is inserted into an assembly, the method of its placement on layers can be changed during editing сomponent properties during changing position of a component or moving it to another layer.

Synchronization of layers

On inserting a component with placement On source layers into the assembly, automatic synchronization of layers may be performed within this assembly. It starts if the assembly file does not contain layers with numbers present in the component file. The result of automatic synchronization is the creation of layers in the assembly with missing numbers. If a component, in turn, contains other components, then the layers are "collected" from all levels. From the source layer to the new assembly layer, the number, color, name, and the value of the Visibility property are copied. Properties Activity, Editing and Projection in the drawing are established by default.

When opening an assembly with a component placed On source layers, a comparison of the layer numbers of the assembly and this component is performed, and if necessary, layer synchronization is applied.

If a component, placed On source layers, and the assembly containing it are opened simultaneously, then when creating new layers in the component with new numbers, these layers are immediately moved to the assembly, resulting in them having the same – default – parameters. The same happens when you edit a component "in place".

A layer copied from a component cannot be deleted from the assembly (as long as it is present in the component). When trying to delete, a corresponding message appears on the screen.

While editing a component "in place" synchronization of layers is also possible. It is used in those cases when the component lacks layers with the same numbers as in the base assembly, and it is necessary to create them. To start the synchronization, run the command Synchronize layers from the context menu of the root element in the Layer tree of the component.
