If necessary, you can display not all the picture inserted into the document but only a part thereof.

Trimming a picture is done along the trimming border – the closed boundary. The cropping border is stored inside the picture insert. Owing to that, it is moved, rotated, and copied together with the picture. While resizing the insert (with the Scalingcommand, as a result of changing the resolution of raster, etc.), the border is scaled.

There can be only one border for trimming. If during Change Source of Insertion The trimming border is deleted. The cropping border remains only if the former file is indicated as a new source of insert (for example, one stored in another folder).

As you select a picture displayed partly, the dimensional marquee is formed by the sizes of that part of picture which is visible on the screen. Defining boundary points – the borders of cropping – are not shown.

To the defining points, as well as the lines of the picture cropping border, a snap is possible while building other objects.

To configure picture trimming, do the following actions.

1.Invoke the Crop picture command.

2.Specify a picture for trimming. Its name will appear in the Image field on the Parameter Panel.

3.Specify the trimming border – closed boundary. The border name will appear in the Borderfield.

If the required boundary is already there in the document, specify it. Objects which can be used as the border are highlighted when the cursor is hovered over them.

If there is no required boundary, build a temporary broken line by pressing the Build Broken Line button to the right of the Border field. Details...

4.Using the Show border, you can enable display of the trim border in the graphic area.

5.Specify if it is required to delete the shown boundary at the end of trim setup, or leave it in the document. For that purpose, the Delete source borderoption is used. With this option enabled, the boundary is deleted at the end of the operation, and not – with the option disabled.

The link between the figure and the specified boundary is not generated, i.e., deletion or editing an object does not affect the cropping border.

6.To complete cut configuration, click Create object .

Upon confirmation of the operation completion, parts of the raster image which are outside the border will be hidden.

Choosing the picture display mode

Once the setup of picture trim has been complete, you can choose the mode of its display – in full, or partly. That can be done by one of the methods.

Method 1

1.Double-click the picture for which a trim was done, or select the picture and invoke the Edit command from the contextual menu.

2.Disable the Cropping option on the Parameter Panel.

3.Press Create Object button.

Method 2

1.Select the picture for which a trim was done.

2.Activate the Parameter Panel.

3.In the Parameters pane, open the Rendering mode list and select the required line in it:

In full,

Partially.

This method allows changing the display mode for several selected pictures at a time.

If the cropping border turns out to be outside the limits of the figure (this may occur as a result of change to the figure area while editing it in a graphic editor), it is not deleted from the insert, but the display mode of the figure is changed to full. To trim such a figure again, it is necessary to invoke the Cropping command for it and specify a new boundary.
