Additional methods for setting hatching and fill borders

Scroll

When you plot a hatch or solid fills you can set its borders by building a broken line, creating a contour, or specifying boundary objects.

Building a broken line

The borders of the area can be set by building a broken line. The line created in this way is displayed in the graphics area only until the completion of the command.

This method can be used to set a region both in the current view and in a view that is not current. In the latter case, the view automatically becomes current.

To plot a broken line, click the Plot Broken Line button to the right of the field Borders. The corresponding subprocess will start.

Subsequently specify the vertices of the broken line, which should limit the area. At the same time, the Create/Edit toggle switch is set to Creation.

If you want to edit the broken line (move or delete vertices, add vertices between the specified ones), set the Create/Editing toggle switch to Edit and follow these steps:

to change the position of the vertex – move it as required,

to delete a vertex – select it and press <Delete>,

to add a new vertex, click on the desired link of the broken line; it will be split into two parts with a new vertex located at the specified point.

The option Close Curve controls the closure of the broken line.

After completing plottinh of the broken line, click the "Create item" button. Then the system will go back to the initial operation.

The region border set by plotting a broken line can be used only for non-associative hatch or fill. For this reason, when performing the operation in the parametric mode a warning message will appear on the screen, before returning to the original process. Details...

Contour assembly

When you plot a hatch or solid fills in the Current View the boundaries of the area can be specified by successively traversing intersecting geometric objects, i.e. contour assembly. The countour created in this way is displayed in the graphics area only until the completion of the command.

To assemble the contour, press the Assemble Contour button to the right of the Borders field. This starts the contour building subprocess.

Specify the objects included in the contour using the mouse.

When creating a contour, you can select the method of passing nonbranching nodes.

Once the contour assembly is complete, press the Create Object button. Then the system will go back to the initial operation.

The region border set by constructing a contour can be used only for non-associative hatch or fill. Therefore, when performing the operation in the parametric mode a warning message will appear on the screen, before returning to the initial process. Details...

Specifying objects

When you plot a hatch or solid fills in the Current View you can specify its borders by specifying the objects. To do this, click the Borders field name. This will start subprocess of selecting objects.

Specify the objects that should limit the area, and click Create Object . Then the system will go back to the initial operation.

When specifying objects, note that they can be specified only in the Current View. Selection of objects belonging to other types will be automatically canceled.

Objects bounding the hatching or fill area can be selected before invoking the command. Hatch or Fill.
