The BOM description is required for displaying the BOM data in the document on the screen. A BOM description includes:

the style of BOM (and the path to the library of styles containing this style),

setting the display of mass values: measurement unit and precision.

The BOM description is stored in the document. One document can have several descriptions. One of them is the current description. In accordance with the current description the following will be displayed:

row of the BOM form when creating a BOM item and an external BOM item in a document,

BOM form in subordinate mode,

Constituent parts of the product on Product BOM panel The BOM style defines the set of sections and the sorting of the components.

The set of sections proposed for selection when setting the value of the BOM section, is also determined by the style of the BOM included in the current BOM description.

Operations with BOM descriptions contained in the document are performed in the dialog, invoked by the command Management — BOM — Descriptions of BOMs. Here you can create a description, edit it, make it current or delete it.

It is also possible to automatically create a BOM description in a document. This occurs in the following cases:

Creation of the first BOM item in the document.

Starting the subordinate mode of working with BOM.

In both cases, the description that appears in the document contains the BOM style specified in the template of specification, used in general case. The indication of the path to the template file is made in the In general row of the Document templatesdialog. To obtain a BOM template, you need to create a specification in the usual manner, select the required style for it, if necessary, make other settings and save the document as a BOM template (*.spt).

Setting for the display of mass values in the automatically created BOM description corresponds to the analogous setting in the BOM template.
