Creating and Editing a Template

Scroll

You can edit the existing templates and create new ones for documents of any type.

For example, you can store the following settings and objects in the template:

format,

detailing,

filling of standard title block graphs (Developed by, Checked by, Quality Engineer, Business Name, etc.),

parameters of objects (dimensions, leader lines, etc.),

settings for system text styles,

property settings and display precision of parts and assemblies.

Template Creation

Perform the following steps to create a document template.

1.Create a document of the desired type.

2.Design and customize it as required.

3.Open the dialog for saving the file as a template. How to open this dialog:

the FileSave As Template... command,

the Save or Save as... command from the File menu or from the File panel of the window Toolbar Panel; in the dialog, select the Template option from the Template list.

When you save a document as a template, the file saving dialog contains the Use as default option. It allows to set the template being saved as the default template for creation of new documents of this type. If you enable this option, the path to the template file will be saved to the Document Templates dialog.

4.Save the document by specifying a folder and file name for writing.

To make the template available when creating a document from a template, we recommend saving it to the folder configured as a folder for templates (the path to this folder is specified in the TEMPLATES key of the [Directories] section in the KOMPAS.ini file).

If you save the template to another folder, you may add this folder to the templates list. More details on working with a template list...

If the template should be used as a default one for creation of new documents, but the Use as default option was disabled when saving the file, you can specify the path to this template in the Document Templates dialog.

Template Editing

You can edit any available templates.

To edit a template, open its file in a usual way.

While working with a template, the color of the current document tab becomes orange. The header of the tab displays an icon corresponding to the document type:

Fragment,

Drawing,

SPDS.Drawing,

Text Document,

BOM,

Part,

Sheet Part,

Assembly,

Technological Assembly.

Make the necessary changes to the template.

When you finish working with the template, save and close it.
