General settings for displaying the Model design tree for a part or assembly are made in the Model tree section of the setting dialog box.

To access the section, call Settings — Parameters... and in the dialog box that appears, select Current document — Model tree.

The section allows you to select the saved view of the Design tree and to enable or disable the grouping of components.

Setting description

Preserved appearance of Model tree

The drop-down list allows you to select the way of displaying objects in the Design tree — Structural representation (see the Structural representation of the Design tree section) or Design history (see the Establishing tree structure display section).

The selected method defines the saved view of the Tree, i.e. the view that will be saved when closing the file and used when opening it later.

Group components

This option allows you to divide components in the Design tree into groups depending on their type — Assembly units, Parts, Library components, Local components, Standard parts.

Empty groups are not displayed. A group appears in the Tree after the first object of the corresponding type is created.

When you open a model created in KOMPAS-3D V8 Plus or an earlier version of the system for the first time, the default display method of the Tree is used.

The same display method is taken as the saved view of the Tree. If necessary, you can change the saved Tree view.

After saving a model in KOMPAS-3D V9 and later versions, the information about the saved Tree view will be written to the model file and will be used the next time the model is opened. If the model is not saved, the default Tree display will be used again the next time the model is opened.

When you have finished configuring the Tree, click Apply and close. To exit the dialog box without saving changes, click Cancel.
