Setting up object numbering parameters in numbering groups, as well as adding/modifying/deleting user groups is performed in the Numbering section of setting dialog box.

To access the section, call the command Settings — Parameters... and in the dialog box that appears, select Current document — Numbering. The Settings... command is also used to quickly invoke the section button menu Parameter panel when working with the Numbering panel  or the Change sign command .

This section contains items for configuring the numbering parameters of system groups and user groups (if they are created). Parameter values can be changed by setting them manually or by selecting them from predefined lists. The list of parameters and the order of setting their values are given in the table.

Name

Setting description

System groups

Group name

A field that displays the name of the group. System group names #Numbering of change designations and #Numbering of tables. The names of user groups can be specified by the user.

Type of number

The numbers of objects in the group can be represented by numbers from 1 to 2,147,483,647 or by arbitrarily defined symbols.

By default, numbers are used for numbering. The value of the parameter is 1,2,3,4,5....

To use characters to set numbers, click in the parameter value field and select the Specified characters option from the drop-down list. The list of characters used is specified in the Character set field.

Number length

The field is present in case of numerical numbering of objects (the Number Type parameter has the value 1,2,3,4,5...).

Defines the minimum number of digits of the object number. The digit capacity can be set as a natural number from 1 to 10. If the digit capacity of the object number is less than the specified one, zeros are added before the number.

If the digit capacity of the object number is greater than the specified one, the number remains unchanged.

Set of characters

The field is present in case of symbolic numbering of objects (the Number type parameter is set to Specified symbols).

Defines which symbols and in what order will be assigned to the objects added to the numbering group.

By default, the symbol set consists of letters of the Russian alphabet. You can enter arbitrary characters into the set. Repetition of characters is not allowed. The total number of symbols in the set does not exceed 64.

The number of objects in the group can exceed the number of specified symbols. In this case for numbering of objects first the specified symbols are used, and then the same symbols with number, for example, A1, B1, B1, B1,..., A2, B2, B2, B2, etc.

Please note that when switching from symbolic numbering to numeric numbering the set of specified symbols returns to the default form.

Text before the number

Allows you to enter a string of characters to be displayed before the object number. The number of characters in the string is max. 256.

Text after the number

Allows you to enter a string of characters to be displayed after the object number. The number of characters in the string is max. 256.

Start from

Allows you to enter a number or a serial number of a symbol (in case of symbolic numbering), from which the numbering of objects in the group will start.

For example, the set of symbols for numbering consists of letters of the Russian alphabet A, B, C, etc. In the Start with field enter the value 3. In this case, the numbering of objects in the group will start with the letter B.

When you change the value of the Start with parameter, the numbers of objects in the group will automatically change. The exception is the case when the auto-rearrangement of numbering is disabled (the Auto-rebuilding of numbering parameter has the value No) and the number is decreased. In this case, the object numbers are not changed, empty lines containing free numbers appear in the list before the first object. The first empty line in the list contains the initial number.

Auto-rebuilding of numbering

Allows you to control automatic rearrangement of the group object numbers.

Click in the parameter value field and select the required value from the drop-down list.

If the parameter has the value Yes, the numbering starts from the initial number (the initial number is specified in the Start from field). When deleting an object from the numbering group, the numbers of the objects in the list after the deleted object are automatically changed.

If the parameter has the value No, the numbering can start from an arbitrary number larger than the initial one. The numbers of objects in the group are not changed when deleting an object, and the lines containing free numbers remain in the list.

Note that when you switch to Yes, the lines containing free numbers are automatically deleted.

Reset

The button is used to return to the default values of numbering parameters in the system group.

User groups

Create

The button is used to create a custom numbering group. The user group has the same set of numbering parameters as the system group. The group name is set by default and can be changed.

Delete

The button is used to delete the user numbering group. If the group contains objects, a request to confirm the deletion will appear on the screen. If a non-empty group is deleted, references to the numbers of objects contained in this group become inoperable.

When the settings are complete, click Apply and close. Changes in the numbering groups will be transferred to the list of groups displayed in the Numbering panel.

The list of numbering groups is displayed not only on the Numbering panel, but also on the Parameter panel when you use the commands for creating numbered objects (see General section).

The customization dialog can also be invoked during the operation of the Change mark command. In this case, the changes in group composition will not be transferred to the list immediately after the dialog is closed, but only the changes in the settings of the group numbering parameters already in the list will be applied. To bring the list into compliance with all the changes made, terminate the Change mark command and call it again.

To exit the dialog box without saving the changes, click Cancel.
