Settings of 3D Editor for Working with a Large Assembly

Scroll

1.When working with large assemblies, use the simplified display mode — this will accelerate the shift and rotation of the model. Set up a simplified display mode in the following way.

In Dialog for setting up component simplification Reduce the Level of Detail.

In Other Settings of the Simplified Display Mode dialog box Enable all options.

For more details on the simplified model display mode, see section Simplified Model Display Mode.

By default the simplified model display mode is enabled.

2.Disable all options in the Orientation Change Setup dialog (see section Changing orientation). This eliminates additional rotations and scaling of the model.

3.Ensure that the option Display Read Only access for components in the access rights settings dialog is disabled (see section Set Access Rights). When this option is enabled, the time required to open the model file increases due to checking components for a read-only attribute.

4.To reduce model redraw times after sweeping or rotation, do the following.

Using commands from the View – Hide menu, turn off display of assembly helper objects which are not needed in the work. By default, display of most component helper objects in the assembly is turned off. You can also turn off display of other objects using commands in the View – Hide in Componentsmenu, if required.

Disable the shaded with edges display by pressing the Shaded with Edges button on the Quick Access Toolbar, or using the View — Model Display — Shaded with Edges menu command.

5.Make sure that the option Display smooth edges is enabled Smoothing edges settings dialog box Enabled, and their style and color are set by default.

6.To speed up model rendering, disable image smoothening in a graphic area. To do that, in the list Quality of Smoothening Dialog controls with image Select the option No Smoothening. Changes made to the settings take effect after restarting KOMPAS-3D.

7.To quickly restore frequently used model positions, save them as custom orientations (see section Saving Custom Orientation).
