Group of points by curve

Scroll

You can plot a group of points on the existing curve. The curve may be any 3D curve or its segment, a sketch line or an edge.

The group of points may be uniformly located along the entire curve or its part. The position of the work portion is set by offsetting the start and end points of the group from the curve vertices. You may specify the offset in relative or absolute values.

Use the Group of points by curve command to construct a group of points lying on a curve.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Select a curve to plot points on it.

The name of the selected object is displayed in the Curve field on the Parameter Panel. A phantom of the point group and a phantom building direction arrow are displayed on the curve. Extremities of the phantom are the group’s characteristic points.

The Change Direction button to the right of the Curve field allows changing the direction of point construction to the opposite (from the end vertex of the curve to the starting vertex). After pressing the button, the arrow on the icon will change to the opposite.

2.Select the Placement Method Points of the curve group, click the required button in the Method group, and configure parameters for the selected method.

3.By default, the borders of the segment within which a group of points is being plotted, coincide with the ending vertices of the curve. You can also Change position of work section.

4.Select the result of plotting the group of points using the Strew option:

with the option disabled, after the command is completed, the points will be displayed in the Design Tree as objects subordinate to the group,

with the option enabled, after the command is completed, every point will be displayed in the Design Tree as a separate object.

5.Advanced plotting options.

You can select a coordinate system relative to which group points will be located. To do that, use the Coordinate System section. Details...

You can change the name, color and style of the point display. To do that, use the Properties section.

6.To complete the group plotting, click Create object .

In the graphic area, created points will appear, and in the Construction Tree, an object Point Group with subordinate point objects or a set of separate points (if the Scatter option was enabled).

7.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

Tips

The position of the work segment of the curve can be changed in the graphic area using the defining points.

You can specify offset of extreme points of the work segment using a geometrical calculator.

You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear values. To do this, call the Tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value). More details on assigning tolerance...
