How to create a component by mirroring |
Scroll |
To add a mirrored component or to symmetrically insert a component, use the Mirroring Components
command.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select a plane of symmetry by specifying a planar object – a planar face, a coordinate or auxiliary plane. A planar face can only be specified in the graphic area of the model, and the rest of the objects both in the graphic area and in the Design Tree. The selected symmetry plane is highlighted, its name will appear in the Plane field.
2.Select the original components. To do this, specify the components or objects belonging to them in the Design Tree or in the graphic area of the model. The selected components are highlighted in color, their list is displayed in the Components field. The phantoms of the added components appear in the graphics area.
If the source component in its turn contains any components, then the construction is performed for all these components, but in the Components field only the original component itself is displayed.
|
•If the model contains several components having the same source file, and you need to mirror all these components, you do not have to select the components individually, but specify their common branch in the Design Tree (the Tree should be shaped as a Structural Representation). •You can also select source components before invoking the mirroring command by specifying the components (objects belonging to them) in the Design Tree or in the graphic area of the model. |
3.If you want to leave the original components after executing the command, enable the Retain Source Objects option. If the source components are to be removed, disable the option.
4.To proceed to the setup of insertion parameters for components, press the Continue Mirror Reflection
button in the heading of the Parameter Panel. This option opens the dialog Component mirroring parameters, and the elements for selecting objects on the Parameter Panel will no longer be displayed.
5.Set the insertion options as described in Mirroring parameters.
|
If necessary, you can return to selecting objects. To do this, in the Component mirroring parameters dialog click Object selection... button. The dialog will be closed, and the controls will appear on the Parameter Toolbar. Change the set of selected components and click Proceed with mirroring. The mirroring settings dialog will reappear on the screen. |
6.To complete adding the components, click OK button in the dialog or the Create object
button on the Parameter Panel header. The added components will appear in the model Design Tree.
The Finish
button, located in the Parameter Panel header or in the dialog, allows you to complete the operation without creating components.

Mirroring of components does not take into account operations performed on components in the assembly model. You can get these operations using the array building commands or perform them again. |
