To insert the image from another drawing view, perform the following actions.

1.Invoke the Image from view of another drawing... command

This command is only available when working with drawings.

After the command is executed, the Open File dialog will appear on the screen.

Select the required file in this dialog box and click Open. The filename is displayed in the Source file field on the Parameters panel.

If it is required to change an insertion source, click Source file link and select another file.

2.A phantom image in the graphic area, contained in the current Source view insertions, is displayed. To define another source view, select it in the Source View list. The phantom will be modified.

Please note that all the layers of the source view are displayed in the phantom, including the hidden layers. After the insertion is created, the hidden layers won't be displayed in the document.

3.Please select the view insertion method by pressing the corresponding button in the Method of Insertion group:

By reference,

By embedding,

With explosion.

4.Enter the name of the insert in the corresponding field. This field is displayed on the Parameters panel if you use the By reference or By embedding method. The name you specify will be displayed in the Document tree. By default the full path of the source file is used as the name of the insertion.

5.If needed, specify the angle of rotation in the Rotation Angle field.

To set insertion parameters, you can use snaps and geometrical calculator.

6.Using the Scale Leader Lines option, please select if you want to scale extension lines and dimension leaders in the insertion.

If this setting is disabled, the length of the extension lines and leaders will be preserved the same as in the source file.

If this setting is enabled, the length of the leader lines and leaders will change depending on the current scale of the master view.

Once configured, the setting is stored in the insertion and is taken into account when changing the scale of the master view or the scale of the insertion (the Scale Leader Lines option is ignored).

7.Enable the In Thin Lines option if you want to display primary and heavy lines using the corresponding thin lines (primary and heavy -> thin, primary dashed -> dashed, primary axial -> axial). This replacement only applies to system line styles.

8.Set the Apply current document parameters option if you want to modify the insertion parameters to match the parameters of the current drawing. If this option is disabled, the insertion objects are displayed exactly like in the source view. If this option is enabled, the display of objects will change in the following way:

parameters that cannot be changed when creating an object (e. g. length of dimension arrows) are reverted to default values.

parameters that can be changed when creating an object (e. g. height of the dimension text font) are only reverted to default values if they have not been modified.

The In thin lines and Apply current document parameters options are available in the Parameters panel if the insertion is made as By reference or By embedding.

9.Use one of the following methods to set the position of the base point of the view insertion:

set the view insertion point,

enter the coordinates in the Base Point field of the Coordinates group.

After the base point is set, the view insertion is automatically completed. The system waits for the next place for an insertion.

10.To complete operation of the command, click Complete .

The view insertion is placed in the current view of drawing. This view becomes the Parent view of insertion.
