To determine the distance between two geometric objects (arbitrary points, a curve and a point, two curves), use the Distance between two objects command. As a result of measurements, the shortest distance between the specified objects is calculated (the length of the straight line connecting these objects).

Step-by-step instructions

1.Select two objects to measure the distance between them. More information about selecting objects...

2.Configure the measurement parameters. Details...

You can quickly view the measurement results, or you can enter them in Information window.

When you quickly view the measurement results, the distance between the selected objects is displayed next to the cursor.

The Information window displays the following values:

distance between objects,

distances between objects along the axes of the current coordinate system,

point coordinates.

For precise positioning of the cursor when specifying points, use snaps or geometrical calculator In the First point and Second point fields on the Parameters toolbar.

Without closing the command, you can determine the distance between several pairs of objects. Select the objects one by one. The Information window will display the relevant values.

Measurement results can be saved or printed. For this purpose use the Information Window menu commands.

3.To complete the execution of the command, click Finish on the Parameters panel or close the Information window.
