Grouping BOM items. Twin items |
Scroll |
Twin items are items of the same section containing identical data in the column used for sorting. They may occur as a result of copying items, inserting of identical products from the Standard products application into a document, entering the same text parts of items, etc.
By default, such items are displayed as a single (group) row containing the total quantity in the appropriate column.
|
If sorting is performed by several columns (as defined by the section setting), then to be considered twin items, the items must have identical data in each of the columns selected for sorting. |
Viewing group composition
You can at any time enable group composition display for BOM item groups. To do this, run the Expand group command
. It is available when a group row is selected in a BOM.
After running the Expand group command
, the current contents of the BOM table cease to be displayed — instead only rows comprising the selected group are shown.
Exception of individual items from the group
The feature of grouping the BOM item with its twin items (if any) is managed by the Group option in the settings of this BOM item. By default, grouping is enabled for all items, so any twin items appearing in a BOM will be automatically grouped together and displayed in the BOM as one row.
You can disable grouping for individual items if necessary. To do this, expand the group containing the required item(s), select the item, and disable the Group option in the Group group on the Parameter panel. After you collapse the group containing items with disabled grouping, they will be displayed and numbered in the BOM table as separate items, regardless of presence of twins.
You can re-enable grouping of duplicate items by enabling the Group option in the item settings.
|
In the group row settings, the Group option is enabled and unavailable. |
There is a possibility to simultaneously enable or disable the Group option for all items in the BOM. Details...
|
If the item is transferred to the BOM from the connected document, then the Group option is present in its settings, but changing its state is not possible. Grouping can be enabled/disabled for this item in the document from which it was transferred. |
Editing twin items
Twin items may be edited all together (when the group is collapsed and displayed as one row in the BOM) or one by one (when the group is expanded). Please note that the BOM may display either one group row or rows which form this group. You cannot display both at once.
When a single item is modified, its parameters are not propagated to other twin items. If the item data is changed in the column the sorting is made by, then this item is excluded from the group of twin items.
Features of editing a group row:
•When the contents of the Format, Designation, and Name cells are changed, the new value is assigned to each item in the group.
•Change of the value in the Quantity cell is reflected only in the group row, while the quantities of the group items do not change. After manual editing of quantity, the corresponding cell in the group row is displayed in a red frame indicating that the value displayed in the cell is not the sum of the quantities defined in the group rows. If you want to restore the default (i. e. calculated) amount, select the group row and run the Calculated Value command from the context menu of the Calculated value cell.
|
In the Materials section, quantity is usually accompanied by a designation of a measurement unit. These designations should be entered into the Note column, and not the Quantity column, as the presence of letters in at least one cell of the group prevents automatic summing in the grouped cell. |
•Editing the value in the Note cell is similar to editing the quantity, with the only difference being that by default, the cell displays the notes of the items included in the group separated by spaces.
•The list of documents attached to the group row is composed of documents connected to the group items. Adding a new document to the group row list means attaching it to all items in the group, and deleting a document from the list means detaching it from all items to which it was attached.
•Copying a group row creates a regular BOM item, i. e., not representing a group of identical items. The resulting item will have the same parameters and text as the group row.
If you need to copy some individual item from a group, expand the group and copy the relevant item.
•Deleting a group row deletes the entire group of duplicate items which were represented by it.
If you need to delete only one group item, expand the group and delete the relevant item.
If necessary, you can enable or disable the Group option for all items in the current BOM at once, i. e., either group all duplicate items in the BOM or display each of them as a separate row. To do this, run the Group all or Group all command, respectively, from the Ungroup all menu.
When working with a BOM document, please note that the Group commands only process those BOM items that were created manually. Items transferred to the BOM from an сonnected document do not change. Grouping can be enabled/disabled for these items in the document from which they were transferred.
If the state of the Group option was changed for at least one BOM item as a result of the execution of the Group command, a message will appear on the screen indicating that document processing has been completed and grouping is enabled (or disabled) for the items available for editing. If no item was changed, no message will appear.
|
If the duplicate items were configured differently (i. e., for some of them the Group option was disabled and for others it was enabled), then running the Group command sets the same configuration option for all items. Since you cannot undo any operations while working with a BOM, returning it to its previous state is possible either by closing it without saving or by manually reconfiguring the items again. |
