Viewing and editing data available in assemblies and drawings for a BOM is performed in the subordinated mode of working with BOM items.

The following will be displayed in the subordinated mode:

BOM items created automatically in the document based on the properties of the product constituent parts,

BOM items created manually in the document using the Add BOM object.

For switching to the subordinate mode, use the Edit BOM Objects command .

After switching to the subordinate mode for working with BOM items, a new tab with columns and sections identical to columns and BOM sections is created in the KOMPAS-3D window. This tab is almost the same as the tab for editing a BOM document. The difference is that the header of the document does not show the name of the BOM document, but the name of the document containing the data for the BOM and the remark "→ BOM items". In addition, a sign of the subordinate mode of operation with BOM items is the orange color of headers of the tab and Parameter Panel, as well as the presence of the mode icon in the upper right corner of the tab .

Features and restrictions of the subordinated mode

The main purpose of the subordinated mode is as follows:

viewing and editing existing BOM items,

Create new BOM items in the document,

customizing the display of items in the BOMs of different styles,

Controlling geometry of BOM items.

The subordinated mode supports the same features of working with BOM items as the BOM document, however, some of them have restrictions:

Command BOM Settings... and, respectively, the commands Automatic numbering, Auto Sorting On the Section toolbar available only while working in a drawing and provided that the BOM is placed on the drawing sheet. In other cases, the configuration of the current BOM and the commands of the Section panel are unavailable.

When working with a BOM document the above command will always be available.

Command Set Ref.Nos. Accessible only until the BOM creation based on the document. After the BOM is created, the reference numbers will be calculated in the BOM and transferred to the document.

Moreover, the availability of the Set Ref.Nos. command depends on the Calculate Positions and Calculate Zones options. in BOM style settings, incoming in current BOM descriptionIf both options are disabled, then the placement of positions is not available.

When working with a BOM document, the availability of the Set Ref.Nos. command depends solely on the style settings of the current BOM.

The section Settings The Parameter Panel does not contain the options Ref.No increases, Show Position and Version Object, but it contains the option Apply in current BOM description.

Closing the subordinate mode

You can perform any of the following steps to close the subordinate mode of working with BOM items:

call the File – Finish editing of BOM items command,

click the cross in the tab header,

click the mode icon .

Since BOM items are saved in the document immediately after they are created/edited, a request to save changes made in the subordinate mode will not be displayed.
