Setting Reference Numbers |
Scroll |
BOM items are often created in arbitrary order. If setting reference numbers is enabled in the settings of the corresponding section, these items are automatically assigned sequence numbers. If sorting is enabled in the section settings, then after each BOM item is entered, the items will be sorted, and the sequence of numbers will be violated; an item added into the BOM last may be placed at the beginning or in the middle of the section, and therefore a higher sequence number may precede a smaller number.
Thus, the numbers that automatically appear in the Ref.Nos. column for new items are not reference numbers. They represent the sequence numbers of items and reflect the sequence of their creation.
In addition, when automatically assigning a sequence number to an item, the reserved lines inside each section are not considered. Therefore, even if you enter BOM items taking into account the sorting rules or with the sorting disabled, their numbering will be continuous in ascending order (without omitting numbers for reserved text lines).
To assign items the reference numbers that correspond to their position in the BOM, run the Set Ref.Nos. command
. Another result of this command is the calculation of zones and the inclusion of zone designations in the BOM (or updating of the existing zone designations).
The Set Ref.Nos. command is available if when configuring the current BOM style (or when configuring the current BOM), the Calculate Ref.Nos. or the Calculate Zones option is enabled. If both options are disabled, the Set Ref.Nos. command is not available.
Please note that in the subordinate mode of working with BOM items, availability of the Set Ref.Nos. command depends not only on the style settings of the BOM included in the current BOM descriptionbut also on whether a BOM was created based on the document. If no BOM was created, the Set Ref.Nos. command is available; if a BOM was created, the command is unavailable, as after the BOM is created, reference numbers are assigned in it and transferred to the attached document.
|
The BOM created from the document is automatically included in the list of BOMs attached to the document. Therefore, in the general case, setting of reference numbers in the subordinate mode will be unavailable if this list contains at least one BOM. |
As a result of running the Set Ref.Nos. command, reference numbers of items will appear in the Ref.No. column. Reference numbers are recalculated in such a way that the items in the sections where setting reference numbers is enabled are numbered, and that their numbers are arranged in the sort order of the items and the numbers of the reserved text lines are omitted.
For example, the Parts section ends with reference number 46 and contains three reserved lines. Then the next section Stock Parts will begin with position 50, since reference numbers 47, 48 and 49 are reserved for future changes.
Even after entering new items or deleting existing items in the Parts section, the number of reserved text lines in it will remain unchanged, and the automatic reference number setting command will "keep the distance" between the reference numbers in adjacent sections.
The number of reserved text lines for each section depends on the BOM style. For the current BOM, you can change it when setting its sections. In addition, the number of reserved lines can be entered in the Reserved Lines field that appears on the Parameter Panel when a section header line is selected in the BOM.
To quickly enable or disable setting reference numbers in the current section, use the Set Ref.Nos. button
on the Section panel.
The pressed button means that setting reference numbers in the current section is enabled, and the depressed button means that setting reference numbers is disabled. This is equivalent to enabling/disabling the relevant option in the settings dialog of the BOM section.
