Chain linear dimension |
Scroll |
A chain linear dimension is a chain of simple linear dimensions that follows certain rules: the first snap point of the next dimension coincides with the second snap point of the previous one, and dimension lines are located on a single line.
Parameters are set separately for each dimension in the chain. If all dimensions must have the same parameters (e.g. arrows of a certain type), call the Remember setting command from the
button menu in the Parameters Panel header. You will see a tick mark next to the command name, and selected parameters will be stored for subsequent dimensions.
Dimensions included in the chain are independent objects. They can be selected, edited and removed separately.
To build a chain of linear dimensions, follow these steps.
1.Run the Linear Chain
command.
2.Set snap points for the first dimension in the chain – points of extension line offset.
In the graphic region, a phantom of dimension will appear.
3.Determine position of the dimension line for all dimensions in the chain using the Type group of buttons:
Horizontal — a dimension line parallel to the OX axis of the coordinate system of the current view,
Vertical — the dimension line is parallel to the OY axis of the coordinate system for the current view.
|
You can only select dimension type (horizontal or vertical) before the first chain dimension is fixed. |
4.Edit the dimension text for the first dimension in the chain, if necessary. To start working with the dimension text, press any alphanumeric key. See section on editing the dimension label...
5.Set the number of decimal places in the dimension text. Details...
6.Set a dimension tolerance. Details...
7.Set up additional dimension parameters, if required: dimension text placement option, arrow display parameters, etc. Details...
8.Set the point defining the dimensional line location. This position will be the same for all dimensions in the chain.
•If you select fixed or manual placement of dimension text, the specified point also defines the text position. After this point is specified, creation of the first dimension in the chain is automatically completed.
•If you select to place dimension text on the landing, the specified point defines dimensional line location and start of the leader. In this case, you need to specify one more point – a starting point of the landing. After this point is specified, creation of the first dimension in the chain is automatically completed.
9.The second snap point of the first dimension is the first snap point of the second dimension. Set parameters and the second snap point for the second dimension.
10.Set the remaining dimensions in the chain in the same way.

11.If you need to proceed to placing the next chain dimension, press the Start new input
button or unfix the coordinate field First snap point in the Coordinates group on the Parameters panel.
12.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
