Cylinder is being constructed by the Cylinder team .

Step-by-step instructions

1.Select the operation result, by clicking the required button in the Result group on the Parameters Toolbar:

Merging,

New solid,

Subtraction,

Intersection.

For the Merging, Subtraction, and Intersection options, you can configure operation application area in the Application Area section.

2.A phantom of the cylinder with the base element is displayed in the graphic area. Set the position of the cylinder's reference point in the Position group and the orientation of its coordinate system axes in the Orientation group. These actions are similar to ones described in section for setting the position of the LCS in the model and are detailed in sections. LCS position and LCS orientation.

You can change position of an object in the graphic area using a base element.

The position of the cylinder can also be specified by indicating a flat face/plane or a circle/arc of a circle in the Design Tree or graphics area. The name of the object is displayed in the Snap point field.

If a flat face or plane is specified, then the reference point of the cylinder is constructed at the location of the specified object. In the Snap Point field the method of constructing the point is displayed — On Surface. The Z axis is perpendicular to the specified face/plane.

If an edge, a sketch curve, or a spatial curve in the form of a circle/arc is indicated, the reference point is constructed at the center of the circle. In the Snap Point field, the method In Center is displayed. The Z axis is oriented perpendicular to the plane of the circle/arc. In this case the diameter of the cylinder is set equal to the diameter of the circle/arc.

An associative link is formed between the selected object and the cylinder, because of which the cylinder will follow the object when the position of the object is changed.

3.Specify the diameter of cylinder.

4.Set the height of the cylinder in the Height group.
Height can be offset in one direction or in two opposite directions. The method to specify height is selected using the Method button group. Parameters for the selected method are set in the same way as when you build extrusion elements, with one exception: when creating a cylinder, there is no option to specify the height To the nearest surface.

5.Click Create Object to complete the building.

6.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

After plotting is completed, a cylinder will appear in the model, and its icon will appear in the Design Tree.

Tips

The diameter and height values of the cylinder can be changed in the graphical area of the model using defining points.

To set linear parameters of the operation, you can use commands of the geometrical calculator.

You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear values. To do this, run the Tolerance command located in the required parameter menu. More details on assigning tolerance...
