Replacing the component, inserted into the assembly, with a mockup

An assembly component can be replaced with a mockup. Replacing the component with the mockup is performed when setting the component properties.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Call the Component properties command for the component that needs to be replaced with a mockup.

2.In the Source section of the Parameter Panel set the Use mockup toggle switch into position I (enabled). The screen will display the file selection dialog.

3.Specify the mockup file in the dialog.

If the selected mockup contains versions, the list of versions is displayed in the dialog. You can select the desired version using this list.

To complete the mockup selection, click the Open button. The full file name will appear in the Mockup file of the Parameter Panel. If necessary, you can select another mockup file by clicking the name of this field and specifying the required file in the dialog that appears.

If you need to re-select the mockup version, use the Mockup version list located on the Parameter Panel. It is displayed when there are versions in the mockup file.

After replacing a component with a mockup, the path to the component file is not deleted. It is displayed in the Source file field.

4.Complete setting the properties of the component by clicking the Create Object button on the Parameter Panel header.

In the graphics area, the mockup geometry will be shown instead of the component geometry. The coordinate system of the mockup coincides with the coordinate system of the component. The component icon in the Design Tree is replaced with the mockup icon .

Only geometry is transferred from the mockup file to the assembly. As a result, the resulting component mockup button has the geometry from the mockup file and the properties from the component file.

The matings overlaid on the component are retained after the mockup is replaced. Notes on mating mockup components...

The state of fixation is also preserved: if the component is fixed, the mockup component will also be fixed; if fixing for the component is disabled, it will remain disabled for the mockup component as well.

After replacing a component with a mockup you need to Rebuild model.

Inserting the mockup before inserting the component

If the component to be replaced with the mockup, if not yet added to the assembly, you can directly insert the mockup into the assembly. To do this, invoke the Add a component lmockup from file command.

When inserting the mockup, you should specify the source file of the mockup itself and the source file of its source component. The geometry is passed to the insert from the mockup file, and the properties from the component file. In other respects the mockup insertion is performed in the same way as the insertion of a component. Details...
