Initial build version numbers are determined by the settings made in the dialog. New version numbers. After creation of versions, their numbers can be edited in the version properties or in the subordinate mode of working with BOM items To edit the version number, double-click in the cell where it is displayed.
When creating a BOM for an assembly or connecting the assembly to the BOM, the version numbers from the assembly are propagated to the BOM.
The ability to edit version numbers in a BOM related to assembly is determined by the option. Version numbers from the connected document in BOM settings dialog. By default, the option is enabled and the link between the version numbers in the assembly and the BOM is maintained. Thanks to it, the change of version numbers made in the assembly is transferred to the BOM, but editing them in the BOM is impossible. If you need to change the item numbers in the BOM, disable the option — the connection between the item numbers in the assembly and the BOM will be canceled. In this case, execution numbers specified in the BOM are not transferred to the assembly, and vice versa, i.e. the execution numbers of the product in the BOM and in the assembly can differ.

If after editing the numbers of versions of a product in the BOM you change its setting by enabling the option Performance numbers from the connected document, then the manually set numbers will be replaced with the numbers from the assembly. |
Version numbers of the assembly may have gaps, e. g.: 01, 06, 08, 12. In this case the number of versions in the BOM created by assembly will be equal to the actual number of versions of the assembly. So, for this example the BOM will have 5 versions (4 + base version), instead of 13 (12 + base version).
If necessary, you can add missing versions to the BOM. To that end, change BOM settings, increasing number of versions.
Numbers of the added versions in this manner are subordinate. Setting up new version numbers, made in this BOM.
Creation/deletion of versions in the assembly is transferred to the associated BOM: data about versions appear/disappear in it and the quantity setting is automatically adjusted to a larger/smaller side.
However, if at the moment of adding a version with a specific number to the assembly it turns out that the specification already contains a version with such a number due to manual addition of versions, then a new version is not created; instead, the information about the existing version is updated. If this version is later removed from the assembly, the information about it in the BOM will change again, but the version itself will not be deleted from the BOM.
