Sorting objects in the Design Tree

Scroll

In the Model Tree, sorting of the following objects is provided:

components,

solids,

detailing geometry.

By default, objects in the Design Tree are located in the order of their creation or addition.

User can change the sorting type. The Sort components and bodies command in the menu, called by the button in the Tree header, serves this purpose.

The following types of items sorting are available:

By insertion/creation order

Sortable objects are located in the Design Tree in the order of their creation (bodies and components created "in-place") or addition (components inserted from other files, as well as standard parts).

Ascending and Descending

Sortable objects are arranged in alphabetical-numeric order by ascending or descending values in rows, displayed in the Model Tree as object names. Display of the object name in the Tree depends on the setup performed in the dialog. Name format in Document Tree. By default in the new model, the object name includes its designation and name.

Sorting of objects in ascending/descending order is performed in the same way as complex sorting in specifications: by comparing numericals or characters in names. If the names include both characters and digits, the lines are broken down into groups of characters and digits (groups of adjacent digits are considered as numbers), and then the groups are compared with each other. More details on composite sorting in the specification...

Sorting of objects is performed using any method of displaying the Tree: in the form Model Design History and in the form of model structure. If the Design Tree contains sections (for example, Components and/or Bodies in the structural representation of the Tree), then objects are sorted within these sections. The order of section placement in the Tree does not depend on the selected sorting type.

Objects within subassembly components are sorted according to the type of sorting selected in their source files.

When grouping by types is enabled (see section Model Tree – General display setting) items are sorted within groups.

The selected sorting type is transferred to the implementations.
