You can create dependent, dependent mirrored and independent versions of the model, using the Design Tree or Document manager.

The Versions tree is preferred for creating single versions. We recommend using the Document manager to create a set of several versions.

The composition and order of versions in the Manager duplicates the Versions tree. When adding a version in the Manager it will be added automatically to the appropriate place of the Versions tree.

By default, a model document contains only the main version. This will be the source version for the first created version. Later you can also use the versions created by the user for creating versions.

When creating a version, the name and the base part of the designation of the original version is inherited from the source version.

Specify the base part of the designation and the name of the main version before creating all other versions of the model (see section Version designation and name).

The version number is generated automatically in accordance with the setting (see section New version numbers) and will be added to the designation of the version.

If you have disabled the automatic numbering of versions during the configuration note the following.

When creating a dependent version, its default number will be the same as the number of the original version. When creating an independent version no default number is generated.

To make the version number unique within the document, change the default number in the former case or specify the required version number in the latter case.

You can create both dependent and independent version from any model version, except for a mirror one.

The created version, both dependent and independent, inherits the geometry, detailing elements, set of variables and property values (including color and optical properties) from the original version.

Objects excluded from the calculation are inherited with the Excluded from calculation attribute preserved.

The procedure for creating a version when working with the Versions Tree is described in section Creating a version in the Versions tree, when working with the Document Manager — see section Creating a version in the Document manager.

In some cases, it is convenient to use a set of versions of an existing model to create a similar set of versions in a different model. This method is described in section Using a versions list from a different model.

Creating versions in the model is not available if it is Template family. To enable creating versions, cancel using model as a template.
