Each model version has a designation and name.

The designation and name of the version can be configured:

when creating a new version in the Versions tree,

when creating or editing a version in the Document manager,

when configuring the version properties on the Parameter Panel or in the Property editor. More details on editing properties in the version...

The designation of a version consists of the base part, the version number and the document code.

The base part is common to all versions of the model. The version number is formed individually for each version and must be unique within the document. The document code is assigned for each version and depends on the document type and the set of design documents of the product.

The base designation and code are set manually. Version numbers are generated automatically, but they also can be set manually if required.

The number generating option (automatically or manually), as well as the parameters of automatically generated numbers depend on the settings. This setting is taken into account only when creating new versions and does not affect the designations of versions that already exist in the model.

The designation of the version is configured using a special toolbar or dialog, where a separate field is provided for each part of the designation. These fields can be filled in manually or automatically. The procedure for specifying the designation is described in detail in section Designation. See the following notes on the versions setting.

The name of the version is a plain text. It is added manually into the corresponding cell of the Parameter Toolbar, Document manager, or Property editor. Later on, you can change the name during editing the properties of the version, and as well as in Version tree using the Rename command or the <F2> key.

The name of the mirror version is formed by adding a predefined suffix to the name of the source version. The suffix can be set during setup (see Section Mirroring).

Notes on version designation setting

Basic part of the designation

When creating a version, the base part of the designation of the original version is exported to its designation. You can change the base part of the designation. These changes will be exported to some other versions.

Notes on transferring property changes between versions

Version number

The number of each version must be unique within the document. Version number is generated automatically when creating a version. Version numbers generation options depend on the settings.

When creating a version in the Versions tree you can set the number manually. If the number you set duplicates another number in the document, the new version will not be created – an error message will be displayed on the screen.

If you change a number when editing a version, and the number you set duplicates another number in the document, then:

in the Designation dialog – number change cannot be acknowledged; after clicking OK an error message will be displayed, and the dialog remains active,

in special toolbar for setting the designation on the Parameter Panel – the number is not saved after editing is completed; the original version number will be preserved.

Document Code

When creating a version, the document code set for the original version is not exported to its designation. If the designation of the created version must contain the document code, then set it manually.

The code change in the version designation is exported to all its dependent versions that have the same code value.

Separators

By default, a designation contains separators: a dash (configured in the settings) and whitespace. You can enter any single character instead of each separator.

The symbol specified for the first separator will be used only in the current designation.

The symbol specified for the second separator will be used as a separator when creating versions derived from this version.
