To plot a revolution surface, use the Revolution Surface
command.
The parameters of the revolution surface are configured in the same way as the parameters of the revolution element.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select the section object in the graphic area or in the Design tree.
The name of the selected object is displayed in the Section field in the Main section of the Parameter Panel. Without interrupting the command, you can create a contour or sketch and use it as a section. More details on setting a section...
2.Select the axis of revolution in the graphic area or in the Design tree.
The name of the selected object is displayed in the Axis field in the General section of the Parameter Panel. If necessary, you can construct an auxiliary axis, which will be used as the axis of rotation during the operation. More details on axis selection...
3.If you use an open sketch as section, and the axis of rotation is in the plane of section, please select the plotting type of the surface using the Build type group of buttons in the General section of the Parameter Panel. The following options are available:
Spheroid,
Toroid.
More details about the surface type construction...
4.Select the method to determine the rotation angle of the section using the Method group of buttons in the General section of the Parameter Panel, and set the required parameters. The following options are possible:
To Angle,
To object.
If the rotation of the section is performed in two directions, please toggle the Second direction toggle switch to I (enabled) and set the parameters of the second direction. More about the Direction and angle of rotation...
All the parameter values are displayed in the graphic area as the phantom of the surface.
5.You can plot a closed surface. To do this, enable the Close Surface option. The option is available if the section is a face, a closed sketch, a closed Contour on face or a sketch contour.
6.You cat set the name of the revolution surface and its display parameters using the controls in the Properties section on the Parameter Panel. Managing the color and optical properties of objects...
7.To complete the operation, click Create an object
.
The revolution surface will be displayed in the graphic area; its icon
.

If plotting produces not one, but several surfaces (for example, if multiple objects are selected as section a curve with several contoursIf the operation results in a solid consisting of multiple surfaces, then after completing the operation, the process of modifying this set of surfaces is started. Select the surfaces that you want to keep. Details... Each of the resulting surfaces is a separate object. You can independently change their colors, hide them or move them into layers. But they will be registered as created by one feature, i.e. they will all change in case you edit the plotting feature. |
8.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.

When editing a surface of revolution on the Parameter Panel, there is a section Creation Options with a Create with matching button Use this button if the original section objects are replaced by other objects. This will allow preserving the associative link of the geometry, which is based on the surface of revolution, with its reference objects. More information about setting compliance... |
Tips
•You can set the rotation angle using defining points.
•To set angular parameters, you can use commands geometrical calculator.
•You can assign tolerances for operation parameter values expressed as angular values. To do this, use the Tolerance command located in the menu field of the parameter to be set.
More details on assigning tolerance...
