Plotting an extrusion surface |
Scroll |
To plot an extrusion surface, use the Extrusion Surface
command.
The parameters of the extrusion surface are configured in the same way as the parameters of the extrusion element.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select the section object in the graphic area or in the Design tree.
The name of the selected object is displayed in the Section field in the General section of the Parameter Panel. You can, without interrupting the work of the team, to build a contour or sketch and use it as a section. More details on setting a section...
2.Select the guiding object in the graphic area or in the Design tree.
The name of guiding object is displayed in the Guiding Object field on the Parameter Panel. If necessary, you can build a vector that sets the direction of extrusion. More details on indicating a guiding object...
3.Select the method to determine the depth of extrusion using the Method group of buttons in the General section of the Parameter Panel, and set the required parameters. The following methods are available.
To Distance,
Through all,
To object,
To nearest surface.
If extrusion is performed in two directions, please toggle the Second direction toggle switch to I (enabled) and set the parameters of the second direction. More details about the extrusion direction and depth...
4.If a sketch or a plane face is used as section, and the direction of extrusion is perpendicular to the section, then the side faces of the extrusion surface may be sloped. Set the slope value in the Angle field on the Parameter Panel. More details on setting the inclination angle...
All the parameter values are displayed in the graphic area as the phantom of the surface.
5.You can also add the faces of the start and end positions of the section to the surface. To do this, enable the Close Surface option. The option is available if a face, a closed sketch, a closed Contour on face, or Sketch contour is used as the section.
6.You cat set the name of the extrusion surface and its display parameters using the controls in the Properties section on the Parameter Panel. Management of the color and optical properties of objects...
7.To complete the operation, click Create object
.
The extrusion surface will be displayed in the graphic area; its icon
will be displayed in the Design tree.

If the plotting results in several surfaces instead of one (for example, if you specify, a curve with several contours as a cross-section), then after completing the operation, the process of changing this set of surfaces is started. Select the surfaces that you want to keep. Details... Each of the resulting surfaces is a separate object. You can independently change their colors, hide them or move them into layers. But they will be registered as created by one feature, i.e. they will all change in case you edit the plotting feature. |
8.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
|
When editing the extrusion surface, on the Parameter Panel, there is aCreation Options section with a Create with matching Use this button if the original section objects are replaced by other objects. This will allow preserving the associative link of the geometry, which is based on the extrusion surface, with its reference objects. More information about setting compliance... |
Tips
•You can set the depth of extrusion, slope angle and extrusion direction in the graphic area of the model using the defining points.
•You can set linear and angular parameters using the geometrical calculator.
•You may assign tolerances, specified in linear or angular units, to operation parameter values. To do this, invoke the Tolerance command from the menu of the required parameter or click the
icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value). More details on assigning tolerance...
