Sending properties values to the source |
Scroll |
The values of the properties Designation, Name, and Note, specified (or modified) for the constituent parts in the product, can be transferred to the source files of the corresponding constituent parts. For this purpose, use the Send to source command.
The command is available in the context menu of the cell that contains property without correspondence to a source (the absence of a link is indicated by the icon
in the property cell), as well as in the context menu of the column header where such cells are present. After invoking the command for an individual cell, the property is transferred from this cell to the source-file of the component part, and after invoking the command for a column, such transfer is performed from all its cells that do not have a link to the source. The Send to source command also establishes a correspondence between a product constituent part property and its source, due to it the icon
in the cell changes to
.

The symbol |
The product may contain different versions of a constituent part, and properties can be changed for one, several, or all versions inserted into the product. When transferring properties to the source, each modified property is transferred to the corresponding version in the source-file.
|
When transferring designations to versions, there is no control over the uniqueness of version numbers. It is essential not to accidentally assign different model versions the same number. |
Saving changes in source-files is performed when saving the product file. If the source-file of the component part is currently unavailable for writing, a message stating this appears on the screen .
Note that the transfer of properties to source-files cannot be undone. If you want to return the property values in the source-files to their previous values before they were transferred, please close the product file without saving.
Transfer of properties to the source is not possible for:
•component that is part of a subassembly, represented by constituent parts,
•component, replaced with a mockup,
•component, editing of which is forbidden,
•standard products and components inserted from the libraries,
•components or versions that have lost their source,
•all components of the subassembly, which at the moment is now being edited in place.
If it is not possible to transfer properties to the source, the Send to source command is not available in the context menu of the corresponding cells. In the context menu of the column header, the command is available but works only for those components for which transmission is possible. If transmission is impossible for all cells in the column without a link to the source, then the Send to source command is not present in the context menu of the column header.
Notes on transferring properties
•If a constituent part has had a property value obtained from a source removed, then when the Send to source command is invoked for this property, an empty value will be transferred to the constituent part file; that is, the value of this property will also be removed from the source. If in the source of the constituent part the property was not established, and in the product it is empty and not corresponded to the source, then the Send to source command for this property is available but not executed, i.e. after its invocation, the source-file does not change.
•If the value of the object’s property in the product file is link, then when transferred to the source it is destroyed, i.e. it turns into plain text and is then transferred in this form.
•A characteristic of the Designation property is that in the assembly it can include an additional version number, and in the component source-file – the document code. The additional number, if assigned to a subcomponent in the assembly, is removed when the designation is transferred to the source; the document code, if assigned in the file of the component, remains unchanged when the designation is transferred to the source.
•If the components of groups have different comments, then in the corresponding cell group of text strings They are displayed according to the rule Enumeration of unique values, i.e., in the form of an enumeration of options separated by semicolons. When the Send to source command is invoked for such a cell, the current content of the cell — a list of options separated by a semicolon — will be transferred to the consistuent part file.
•If for the constituent part — in the product or in the source — synchronization of name with material was enabled, if the property Name is transferred to the source, the synchronization is disabled. The value of the property Material will not be changed.
