Building a Die Form |
Scroll |
To create a die form in a sheet part, use the Open Die Form
and Closed Die Form commands
.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select a sketch defining the position and configuration of the die form.
•If the model contains a sketch, you can use the whole sketch or its part — an area obtained by intersection of the sketch contours or constrained by one of them.
•To select a sketch, specify one of its objects in the graphic area of the model or specify the sketch itself in the Design Tree.
•To select an area in a sketch, click inside that area.
•If there is no proper sketch, build one by clicking the Create Sketch button
to the right of the Sketch field. The sketch placement process will start, and then the system will go into Sketch mode for creating geometry. Perform the steps necessary for building and exit the sketch mode. The created sketch will be automatically selected.
After selecting a sketch, a phantom of the die form appears in the graphic area.
The name of the selected sketch is displayed in the Sketch field. When you select a sketch area, the word Area is added to the field content.
You can change the sketch if necessary. To do this, click Sketch field and select the required sketch or sketch area. You can also edit the selected sketch by clicking the
icon in the Sketch field.
2.Specify the height of the die form. Select a method for setting the height by clicking the required button in the Setting of height group and enter a value in the Height field.
Design direction of the die form (shown on the phantom with an arrow) can be reversed by clicking the Change Directionbutton
to the right of the Height field.
3.Set the direction of adding wall thickness to the die form — inward or outward relative to the surface created by moving a profile in the construction direction. Click the required button in the Wall Thickness group:
Inward,
Outward.
4.Specify the fixed side of the element by clicking the required button in the Fixed Face group.
5.Specify the slope of side walls of the die form.
6.Set the fillet of lateral edges of the die form.
7.Set the fillet of base edges.
8.Set the fillet of bottom edges (for closed die form).
9.If required, set the name of the die form and properties of its surface display using the controls located in the Properties section.

10.To complete the build, click Create Object button
.
After you confirm the completion of the operation, the die form will appear in the sheet part, and its icon will appear in the Design Tree:
open die form,
closed die form.
11.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
Tips
•You can set the construction direction, height, slope angle and some other parameters in the graphic area using defining points.
•You can set linear and angular parameters using the commands of the geometrical calculator.
•You can assign a tolerance to the operation parameters expressed in linear or angular values. To do this, run the Tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the
icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value).
