To create a strengthening edge on a bend of a sheet part, use the Strengthening Edge command .

Step-by-step instructions

1.Specify a bend to build a strengthening edge. To do this, specify one of the objects: a face of the bend, a rectilinear edge of the bend or a flat face adjoining the bend (if a flat face adjoins several bends, you have to specify the second flat face on the opposite side of the bend).

The name of the bend is displayed in the Bend field on the Parameter Panel. The phantom of the strengthening edge will appear in the graphic area.

No phantom means that it is not possible to build a strengthening edge with the current parameters. In this case, click Calculate Profile Parameters by Bend button located to the right of the Bend field. The system will automatically define the parameter values when building of the strengthening edge will be possible. After that, the phantom of the element will appear in the graphic area.

3.Set up the edge profile parameters using controls in the Profile group:

in the Method button group, select the profile construction method and configure the required parameters,

if you need to build a profile with a bulge, set the Bulge toggle switch to I (enabled) and specify the bulge parameters.

4.Select the section shape and set the shape parameters using the Section group of elements. Details...

5.Set up the base fillet of the strengthening edge. For an edge with a U-shaped section, the bottom fillet is also available.

6.If required, set the name of the strengthening edge and properties of its surface display using the controls located in the Properties section.

7.To complete the build, click Create Object button .

After you confirm the completion of the operation, the strengthening edge will appear on the bend of the sheet part, and its icon will appear in the Design Tree.

8.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

Tips

You can set the position of the strengthening edge, length of the profile side and some other parameters of the edge in the graphic area using defining points.

You can set linear and angular parameters using the commands of the geometrical calculator.

You can assign a tolerance to the operation parameters expressed in linear or angular values. To do this, run the Tolerance command from the menu of the required parameter or click the icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value).
