Mapping setup: General information
The process of Establishing correspondence allows to establish a correspondence between the new result of the operation and the result that existed before replacing its original objects. Thus, the associativity of the model geometry constructed based on the resulting objects of this operation is maintained.
In the process of establishing correspondence, two operation modes are provided: the mode for selecting corresponding objects and the mode for viewing the result. To select the desired mode, use the switch Object Selection/View Result.
After switching to the correspondence setup process, the active mode is Object Selection. The updated result of the current operation is displayed in the graphic area, while all other model objects are hidden. A window will open Model-source. It displays the result of the operation that existed before replacing its initial objects.

If it is required that all model objects constructed up to the edited operation are displayed in the graphical area, press the |
Within the framework of matching setup, pairs of objects are formed, which are displayed in the table on the Parameter Panel. Each pair includes the following:
•The object of the old operation result – based on it, the geometry of the model is constructed, whose associativity needs to be preserved,
•The object of the new operation result will be used in place of the old result object in the model geometry construction operations.
Correspondence can be established between objects of the same type — faces, edges, vertices. In some cases, a correspondence between solids and surfaces is also established. Comparison of solids may be required, for example, if the solid is used in Boolean operation, and surfaces — if the operation result is applied Knit surfaces. If necessary, you can set the correspondence for curves, points, and sketches.
Step-by-step instructions
1.In Object Selection mode, specify pairs of objects you want to set as coincident.
To automatically select all objects of the previous operation result which are used in subsequent operations, click Select source objects used in operations
. Each row of the table appears for each of them. Names of the found objects from the old result are entered in the column Source object.
|
When automatically selecting objects from an old result, only constructions performed in the current model are taken into account. For example, a model is a component of an assembly and has mates applied to it. If to maintain the functionality of the mates it is necessary to set correspondence in the current model, then the objects for setting the correspondence should be specified manually (see below). |
The lines of edges and ribs can be automatically filled not only with objects of the old result but also with corresponding objects of the new one. This occurs if the new operation result contains faces/edges whose geometry exactly matches with the found faces/edges of the old result and they are equally positioned relative to the coordinate system. Thus, pairs of corresponding faces and edges can be automatically formed. The items of the new result are displayed in the column New Object.
For the automatic selection of ribs and edges, you can also use the following buttons:
•
Find name match — press this button to find corresponding edges/faces among objects of the old and new operation results, whose system names have not changed after editing parameters or replacing the reference objects of the operation. If the current operation has been previously edited with the conformity setting, then edges, faces, and bodies for which conformity was set during the previous editing will also be found.
•
Find geometric matches — press this button to find corresponding matching edges/faces among objects from the old and new operation results, which are identical in topology, size, and position relative to the coordinate system, as well as faces whose theoretical surfaces coincide.
As a result of the operation of these buttons, rows corresponding to matching edges/faces found when comparing objects of the old and new operation results are formed in the table.
|
If it is assumed that the theoretical surfaces of the faces are identical, but during the search process these faces and their edges are not found, manually specify the adjacent primitives (for example, the edges of the sought-after faces, and in the case of searching for edges — the faces to which these edges belong) and repeat the search. |
For the edges and faces not found automatically by the system, as well as for objects of other types, perform manual specification. Objects from the old result are specified in the Model-source window, and objects from the new one – in the graphic region.
The selected objects are displayed in the table: objects from the old result are shown in the column Source Object, while objects from the new result are shown in the column New Object. In the graphic area and in the Model-source window, the selected objects are highlighted in color and marked with the row number of the table where their names are recorded.
2.When setting up the correspondence for Copy Operations In the graphics area, one can see the directions of curves, edges, axes, and the normals' directions to faces, planes, and surfaces. Directions are displayed with arrows when the Show the directions of objects option is enabled.
If you copy Arbitrary set of objects... you can reverse the direction of objects of the new operation result. To change the direction, click the defining point of the arrow with the mouse. For faces copied as a single surface, a common direction is specified.
For objects Collections You cannot change the direction.
|
Changing the direction is also available in the process of editing the copying operation. In this case, the direction can be changed both for objects of an arbitrary set and for collections. Details... |
3.Ensure that with the established match of selected objects, the geometry of the model will be rebuilt as required. For this, set the switch Object Selection/Result Viewing to the View result position. The elements of object selection will cease to be displayed. All model objects will appear on the screen as they will be after the operation is completed.
If the result differs from the expected, set the switch back to Object Selection mode and change the set of objects between which the correspondence is established.
|
You can check for errors using the Additional document tree -Operations with lost reference objects will be marked as invalid. For operations with errors, the What's Wrong? dialog is available. (click the icon ! with the mouse). You can view the error content in the dialog and return to the matching process by clicking the Close button. To close the dialog via the Edit button, interrupt this process. |
4.To complete the operation editing with the established correspondence between the new and old results, click Create object
button. The operation result will change, and the geometry of the model will be rebuilt according to the new result.
|
If the operation results in a solid consisting of multiple parts, then after pressing the Create Object |
If you need to return to the current operation, click Complete
. In so doing, all actions made during the matching process will be undone.
