To set a linear dimension, follow these steps.

1.Run the Linear Dimension command.

2.Set the dimension snap points – points of extension line offset. To do this, specify the required points and/or objects in the graphic area. For more details on selecting objects...
In the graphic region, a phantom of dimension will appear.

3.Determine position of the dimension line using the Type group of buttons:

Parallel to object – the dimension line is parallel to the line passing through the dimension snap points,

Horizontal — a dimension line parallel to the OX axis of the current view's coordinate system,

Vertical — the dimension line is parallel to the OY axis of the current view coordinate system.

4.Edit the dimension text, if required. To start working with the dimension text, press any alphanumeric key. See section on editing the dimension label...

5.Set the number of decimal places in the dimension text. Details...

6.Set a dimension tolerance. Details...

7.Set up additional dimension parameters, if required: dimension text placement option, arrow display parameters, etc. Details...

8.If two circles, two arcs, or an arc and a circle are specified as base objects, you can select the dimensioning option using the Previous Result and Next Result buttons in the Result Selection group. Clicking buttons of this group will display alternately dimension placement options in the graphic area.

9.Set the point defining the dimensional line location.

If you select automatic, fixed or manual placement of the dimension text, the specified point also defines the text position (see Fig. a). After this point is specified, dimension creation is automatically completed.

If you select to place dimension text on the landing, the specified point defines dimensional line location and start of the leader. In this case, you need to specify one more point – a starting point of the landing (see Fig. b). After this point is specified, dimension creation is automatically completed.

10.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .
