Building a Flanging |
Scroll |
Use the Flanging command
to build a bend along a curved edge of a sheet part.
After you run the command, specify the flanging parameters, check the correctness of the specified values using a phantom and complete the operation.
Edge
Specify an edge or a sequence of edges in the sheet part for designing a flanging.
The names of the selected edges are displayed in the Ribs field on the Parameter Panel.
Below the Ribs field, the Select Tangent Edges option is available. This option is used for automatic detection of chain edges:
•if the option is enabled, then after specifying one of the edges, all other edges of the chain will be defined automatically,
•if the option is disabled, then all the edges that form the chain are specified one by one.
After specifying the first edge, the graphic area displays the flanging phantom.
Bend Extension
A bend extension is a part of the sheet element adjoined to the bend opposite to the edge along which this bend is located.
The length of the flanging bend extension is set using the Bend Extension group of elements.
The method of setting the length is selected using the Setting of Length group of buttons. The length value is set in the Length field.
Methods of setting the bend extension length are specified in the Schemes for setting the bend extension length table.
Angle and Radius
The arrow on the phantom shows the angle calculation direction.
If necessary, the angle calculation direction can be reversed by clicking the Change Direction button
to the right of the Direction element.
The bend angle and radius parameters are set in the Angle and Radius group of elements.
•Select a method for setting the flanging bend angle by clicking the required button in the Setting Angle group, and enter the value in the Angle field.
•Select a method for setting the flanging bend radius by clicking the required button in the Setting Radius group and enter the value in the Radius field.
Flat Pattern
Determination of the bend flat pattern length is configured in the Flat Pattern section.
Select a method for determining the flat pattern length in the Length Determination Method list and specify the parameter for the selected method.

Flanging Properties
You can define the name of the flanging and the properties for its surface display using the controls located in the Properties section.

Completing the Operation
To complete building, click Create Object button
.
After completing the above steps, the flanging will appear in the sheet part, and the corresponding icon
will be displayed in the Design Tree.
The flanging bend is also displayed in the Design Tree. If necessary, you can edit it.
To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
•You can set the construction direction, angle, radius and other parameters of the bend in the graphic area using defining points.
•To set linear and angular parameters of the bend, you can use commands of the geometrical calculator.
•You can change the default values of the bend parameters in the Sheet Solid Properties dialog.
•You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear or angular values. To do this, run the Tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the
icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value).
