To build a centerline – a bisector of angle formed by two indicated rectilinear objects, do the following actions.

1.Run the Auto Centerline command.

After invoking the command, the cursor will take the shape of a square "trap".

The size of the cursor’s trap can be changed in the in the Cursor Settings dialog.

2.Set parameters of the centerline using elements of the Parameters sector. The setup is done the same was as the setup of rendering the designation of the center. Details...

3.Select design method of a centerline by pressing the required button in the Tracing mode group:

By objects – the boundaries of the axis will be determined automatically relative to the specified objects,

With the indication of the borders — the borders of the centerline are set by the user.

4.Indicate objects for building a centerline.

If the By Objectsmethod was selected, indicate two segments. A centerline on a bisector of angle formed by these segments will be built. The first point of the centerline is intersection of the bisector of angle with the straight line connecting the ends of segments. The position of the second point is determined as follows:

if segments intersect, then the second point is a point of their intersection (fig. a),

if one segment intersects with the continuation of another segment, then the second point is the point of their intersection (fig. b),

if segments do not intersect, then the point lies at the intersection of the bisector of angle with the straight line running through the starting points of the segments (fig. c).

By Objects

If segments are parallel, then the centerline will be equidistant from segments. Its points are on the lines which connect the ends of these segments.

relative to the parallel segments

After indication of two segments, creation of the centerline ends automatically.

If the With specifying borders method was selected, indicate two segments, then the first and second points of the centerline. A centerline on a bisector of angle formed by the indicated segments will be built (fig. a). If points are not indicated on the continuation of bisector, then the borders the centerline are projections of the indicated points onto this line.

To set the borders of the centerline, you can indicate the existing curves. Points of its intersection with the selected curves (fig. b, c) will be the borders of the centerline.

After indication of objects and setting the borders, building the centerline ends automatically.
