In KOMPAS-3D there are special modes of working with a 3D model (see Table).
Modes of Working with a Model
|
Name |
Purpose |
Specifics of |
|
Sketch mode (see section Sketch mode) |
Creates a new or edits an existing sketch. |
Commands for creating geometric objects and dimensions are available. |
|
Perspective model display mode (see section Perspective) |
Displays a model with account of perspective. |
You can configure the degree of image distortion made by perspective. |
|
Surface smoothness check mode (see section Checking of surface smoothness) |
You can visually assess smoothness of face joints, as well as identify subtle changes in curvature inside faces. |
All faces of the model mirror the specified image. You can configure the image view. |
|
Model section mode (see section Model section) |
You can visually assess the relative position of parts and assemblies of the assembly model, structural elements of the part, thickness of its walls, etc. |
The model is displayed clipped by a cut plane or a set of planes. When performing operations in this mode, you can specify vertices, edges and faces of the model, including clipped ones, but you cannot specify vertices, edges and faces of the section. |
|
Sheetmetal flat pattern mode (see section Flat pattern) |
Displays user-specified bends in a bent state and other bends in open state. |
You can perform only the following actions: •preview and print a model; •measure geometric and mass-center characteristics of the model. |
|
Assembly components explosion mode (see Explode assembly components) |
Displays assembly components in the exploded view (this may be required to represent the assembly more clearly). |
You can perform only the following actions: •preview and print a model; •create reports. |
|
In-place component editing mode (see section Working in the context editing mode) |
Edits the specified component surrounded by other components in the tab of the model it belongs to. |
Building and editing commands apply only to the specified component. Other components can be seen in the graphic area but cannot be edited, you can use them when executing commands (to specify faces, edges, vertices). |
|
Mode of model dimensions recalculation using tolerances (see section Recalculate model dimensions mode) |
Recalculation of model dimensions based on assigned tolerances. Calculation of the model dimensions is performed as per the current recalculation (see section System and user-defined recalculations of dimensions). |
You can perform only the following actions: •preview and print a model; •measure geometric and mass-center characteristics of the model, •create reports. |
|
Mode for displaying dimensions of a selected element (see section Display of dimensions for a selected element) |
•Reviews dimensions of an object (sketch or operation) outside the process of its editing. •Changes dimensions of an object. |
When selecting an object, its dimensions are displayed on the screen – dimensions of sketches or operations expressed in linear or angular values. |
|
Arbitrary face editing mode (see section Spline form). |
Arbitrary modification of shape and position of the selected face by converting in into a spline surface and moving points of that surface. |
This mode is available if the model contains at least one solid or surface. |
|
Components isolation mode (see section Isolating components) |
Displaying the components, solids or surfaces selected by the user and hiding all other objects. |
Edges, vertices and faces of hidden objects cannot be defined when executing operations in this mode. |
