Building a Bend by Sketch |
Scroll |
To create a bend in a sheet part using a sketch, use the Bend by Sketch
command.
After you run the command, specify the bend parameters, check the correctness of the specified values using a phantom and complete the operation.
The set of controls on the Parameter Panel depends on how you build the bend — by one edge or a chain of edges.
Sketch
Set a sketch to define the bend profile.
•If the model has a sketch, specify it in the graphic area or in the Design Tree.
•If there is no sketch, build it by clicking the Create Sketch button
to the right of the Sketch field. The sketch placement will start, and then the system will switch to the Sketch mode for creating geometry. Perform the steps necessary for building and complete work in the sketch mode. The created sketch will be automatically selected.
The name of the selected sketch is displayed in the Sketch field on the Parameter Panel.
You can change the sketch if necessary. To do this, click Sketch field and select the required sketch. You can also edit the selected sketch by clicking the
icon in the Sketch field.
Edges
Specify a straight-line edge of the sheet part or a sequence of edges along which the bend should be located.
The edges forming a chain can be joined by vertices or by bends. In the latter case, you should specify not only straight-line edges but also their mating arc edges.
The names of the selected objects are displayed in the Ribs field. A phantom of the bend by sketch is displayed in the graphic area.
Bend Width
When you create a bend by a chain of edges, the width of each bend is equal to the length of the respective edge.
If you create a bend by one edge, you can set the bend width. To do this, use the Method group of buttons.

Bend Radius
Select a method for setting the bend radius by clicking the required button in the Setting radius group and enter a value in the Radius field.

Flat Pattern
Determination of the flat pattern length of the bend by sketch is configured in the Flat Pattern section.
Select a method for determining the flat pattern length in the Length Determination Method list and specify the parameter for the selected method.

Cap Corners
Using the controls located in the Cap Corners section, you can configure capping of corners between bends and set the treatment parameters for the initial and final flanges of the bend by sketch.
The following types of capping are available:
•Cap Adjacent Corners is available when you build a bend by a chain of edges,
•Cap in the Start and Cap in the End are available if you build a bend by one edge or by an open chain of edges.
To configure capping, set the relevant toggle switch to I (enabled) and specify the capping parameters.

Release
The corner release and bend release parameters are set in the Release section.
•To create a bend release, set the Bend Release toggle switch to I (enabled) and specify the release parameters. The toggle switch is available on the Parameter Panel if you build a bend by one edge.
•To apply corner release, set the Release angle toggle switch to I (enabled) and select the release method by clicking the required button in the Method group.
Properties of the Bend by Sketch
You can set the name of the bend by sketch and properties of its surface display using the controls located in the Properties section.

Completing the Operation
To complete building, click Create Object button
.
After completing the above steps, a bend by sketch will appear in the sheet part, and its icon
will appear in the Design Tree.
All bends of the created sheet element are also displayed in the Design Tree. If required, you can edit any bend.
To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
•You can set the bend radius using the defining point.
•To set linear and angular operation parameters, you can use commands of the geometrical calculator.
•You can change the default values of the bend parameters in the Sheet Solid Properties dialog.
•You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear or angular values. To do this, run the Tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the
icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value).
